We are planning a short 30 minute outage on our platform on 18th February 2026 at 21:00 to carry out the replacement of two batteries, as follows…
- The RAID controller data backup battery on Chassis4.
- The UPS battery serving Chassis4 and Chassis5.
The will affect the following groups of users only…
- Users of email server Ada (Lovelace), ie POP3/IMAP users not filtering email with Spam Safe Mail.
- All users of remote desktop MyServer10.
We will update the progress below.

18/02/2026 @ 21:00 Outage started.
18/02/2026 @ 21:05 All virtual machines on Chassis4 shutdown successfully.
18/02/2026 @ 21:14 RAID battery replaced on Chassis4.
18/02/2026 @ 21:23 All virtual machines on Chassis4 started back up.
18/02/2026 @ 21:24 Now to change the rack mounted APC 2200 UPS feeding PSU’s #1 to Chassis4 and Chassis5.
18/02/2026 @ 22:11 All complete.
Note: All systems were completely back on line at 21:23.
Additional work required
It was noticed that there was a build up of dust in and around the firewall. Most of it was removed, however, to get inside to blow out properly before the hot summer will require switching the firewall off. A future late night short outage will be planned for this work.
