Please note that we have been notified by the National Grid that the power will be going off twice on 22nd May 2025 at our offices in Mucklestone. The first time will be to connect us to their standby generator at around 9am, and the second in the late afternoon to disconnect us. However, during the two power outages, we will automatically cut over and run on our own standby generator so clients should see no effects. This is for information only.

Updates
2025-05-18 @ 10:46 I rang National Grid to get more information, and I actually spoke to the engineer who is doing the work for a more detailed explanation. I explained that we have a data centre at Mucklestone Business Centre that would be affected in addition to the local primary school. They suggested that they have access to the field next to the sub station to temporary install a diesel generator, so the outage will now no longer be an eight hour outage as originally planned but a cut over to their generator to take the load during the day on the 22nd. Any outage longer than a few seconds will cause our own diesel generator to kick in and take the electrical load for our own building only.
2025-05-22 @ 10:19 We saw earlier a brief flicker of lights. Walking down the lane, I can hear a quiet 1,500rpm generator running, so the flicker may have been the cut over to their standby generator. It was so brief our own generator did not need to kick in.
2025-05-22 @ 14:22 Mains power lost, now running on our own standby generator. Our own generator automatically kicked in and took the full load.
2025-05-22 @ 16:22 Have been running for just over 2 hours on our own generated power. All systems are happy and there are no reported issues.
2025-05-22 @ 17:32 The mains power has been restored and our standby generator has shutdown down after 3 hours 10 minutes of use.
2025-05-22 @ 18:47 Fuel tank in the standby diesel generator refuelled ready for the next time it is needed to generate our own power in an emergency.
Notes
Our own standby generator at this location is always prepared for immediate use. We check the diesel fuel, oil levels and charge the starter batteries weekly. We also periodically check it auto-starts.
